Baptistry - Rainier Valley

This was a very creative project indeed.  EAZ, Inc. was asked to re-inspire this sacred baptistry space.  It needed updating in every way. Bringing the baptistry into this modern time and to make the finish look timeless was challenging, as budgets are mindful with any project. The design, chosen by EAZ was based on the work of Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. In particular, the Riola Parrish Church outside of Bologna, Italy.  The new baptistry is filled with beautiful light and shadow as the sun moves through the space over time.  The baptistry also functions as a staging area for Sunday service operations, and was re-designed with additional cabinetry for storage and space for small seating counseling sessions. We are very proud to have done this project for such an admirable church. 

Kitchen - Mt. Baker

It is always nice to be invited back to a clients home to do more work. I like to think we must have delivered on our reputation of quality work and service, or we wouldn't be there again. EAZ, Inc. was back this time to remodel a very old kitchen. They wanted to use IKEA cabinets. I think IKEA can be a great price point, and in this project it allowed room to design out a few problems. My design involved moving the door. Moving the door allowed all of the appliances on one side, and room for a pantry. We also did some sound wall work on the exterior wall because they had a noisy neighbor. The client said that after the remodel, she had never had so much storage in a kitchen before. The kitchen is now warm, and quiet . See you next time.

Custom cabinet - Columbia City

Now you see it, now you don't. What to do when you have a plethora of deep, odd nooks in your floor plan, but not enough storage for a busy family of 5?  This client was sick and tired of the space to the right of her front door as the "catch all", where shoes, coats, backpacks would pile up, literally. She needed a simple cabinet that was an organizational no brainer, but had a minimal footprint. we got it. EAZ, Inc. designed a cabinet on casters to make the most of the deep nook, seamlessly recessed into the wall. on top, a stationary cabinet for maximum storage potential. Pull it out, put on your shoes, grab your coat and hat. Leave it out for the next family member, or push it back because company is coming and you want to tidy up. No fuss, no muss.

Basement Remodel - Ravenna

Many times in a remodel project, I am fortunate enough to get another gig with the same client. I was excited to transform this client's unfinished basement with the same ideas of maximizing space and storage for their growing family - including two new canine additions. I was able to reuse old closet storage solutions and make it better suited for the basement, and added value by extending the life of construction materials from the previous project.

Cubbies - Loyal Heights Elementary, Ballard

Kid tested, teacher approved! EAZ, Inc. was asked to design/build a functional storage solution for a classroom portable at Loyal Heights Elementary. The goal was to compete and surpass the out of the box storage solutions on the market (generally expensive and are always just off the mark of what teachers and students need). So what was in order? Two custom cabinets (full of cubbies) to accommodate 29 students, allowing maximum educational space in what was to be a smaller than usual classroom size portable.

The results are in, everybody loves them!

Custom massage studio/office - Pioneer Square

This client (a massage therapist) wanted a studio that was unlike any other massage space she had seen. EAZ, Inc. and the client contributed to the design process to produce a clean, simple studio and lighting plan that welcomed her massage clients, but also functioned well as an office for paperwork/storage. EAZ, Inc. designed a foyer area for the l.m.p. to wait for clients to disrobe, and a staging area for the clients to set themselves post massage, allowing the l.m.p. to continue office work to maximize time (including a tucked away lunch counter for a quick bite). Custom cabinetry built upon a framework of pre-fab cabinetry helped keep costs down. This was a fun project that wins many compliments from massage clients and the massage therapist alike. Out of control cubby hole - Skyway

This is a custom cubby hole extravaganza! Cubby is in progress, and will post finished project as soon as it's completed. The idea was to recess a refrigerator into an existing closet, while not losing any storage space. EAZ, Inc. designed this fabulous cubby that compliments the client's modern taste throughout her home.  She is a writer, and in the process of re-designing the current den to add natural light and a more permanent collection for her books. EAZ, Inc. installed a new window, created access to client's basement crawl space in addition to the cubby.

Micro-house project - Ballard Industrial (BID)

Little home in the BID (Ballard Industrial) has been a creative project for EAZ, Inc.  Re-using existing cabinets, and streamlining design to maximize storage was top priority in a home that is less than 700 square feet.  The client had other materials in his garage that were utilized into a custom cabinet and a modern soft illuminated broom closet, designed and built by EAZ.  There were specific original design problems with the first remodel of the kitchen such as the pre-fab cabinets ill fitted so that they faced the dining room and lack of swing cabinet clearance.  EAZ pulled the pantry and the refrigerator back into the kitchen and integrated them closer to the food prep area.  Great results, and a happy client (and his dog loves his new food bowl cubby).  Please check out remaining BID house photos in project slideshow.

Attic Adjustment - Ravenna

Another past project-

This University Place (near UW) attic was for the mother of a client who was to join them in their home permanently.  My task was to create a organized, but cozy space that could comfortably fit mom, all of her books, and collectibles while maintaining the existing character of the farm house where the client grew up.  I custom built cabinets to maximize storage space and allow the mother ample room to live.  The attic was small, so every single square inch was utilized; from the special rounded built-in shelf, and the look-out bay window, to the custom t.v. nook.  Happy to say, after eight years, mother and space are still well suited for each other.  More photos in project slideshow.
